hi ! I'm ashley wrenn (they/she), a 21-year-old independent game artist and designer currently based out of Seattle, WA. I graduated from UCSC in spring 2024 with a degree in art: games and playable media, and am currently available for freelance work or full-time Game Design positions.I enjoy designing a wide range of cool interactions within game mechanics and systems, with a strong focus on accessibility at its core. I spend almost all of my time thinking about my own designs or discussing other's designs. For art, I primarily focus on character/enemy art and animation, especially using more experimental styles of digital textures like watercolor and paint markers!I'm frequently working on a variety of personal projects, but have past work represented in games such as Magic: The Gathering and Minecraft :>

"Carcinization"
Artist/DesignerA game about turning the world into crabs, one crab at a time :)This game was made over a period of 5 weeks for the class ARTG 120.
As part of RASA Studios, I help design, build, and test games for our Minecraft Gameshow, The Noxsquad Gameshow. Each episode of the gameshow features 2 teams of 3 contestants competing in various original minecraft minigames.

Dragon Dash was the first game I designed for The Noxsquad Gameshow.Dragon Dash is designed for two teams of three, with one player being the "Dragon", with a special dash ability that gives a speed + jump boost and leaves a damaging trail on cooldown. Over the course of the game, the chat alerts the players of a lit beacon in one of the three areas of the map, which can be activated by the Dragon to unlock a single use ability for the entire team. The objective of the game is to kill the opponent's Dragon, which will end the game, unlike the other players (dubbed "Disciples"), who will respawn.

For the Caves and Cliffs update in Minecraft, Mojang hired two teams to make maps that would be released alongside their Summer Celebration event (Based around the new Caves & Cliffs update), one of which was the team I'm on, RASA Studios. During the event, the map hit millions of downloads in the first couple days, reaching 6.6 million just a month after release. Want to learn more about the map? Try some of the links below :).

As a first year, I collaborated with a senior capstone games project as an enemy/character artist and animator. Purgatower is a 2D dungeon crawler that mixes top-down exploration and puzzle solving with side scrolling combat in a fantasy setting. It can be run on mobile or browser.

Heist-Meisters is the heist game I worked on with RASA. As the player explores the museum, they face a number of puzzles and challenges all placed using procedural generation, leading up to the artifact room. Once they grab the artifact, the player must navigate back to their van to escape.
